The 50-ton Climax locomotive, built in 1920, is back together and ready to move people by steam. Last season, this locomotive was taken out of service; needing a new drive shaft and rebuilt gears on the front truck. One of only four remaining in operation in the world, she’s ready for the next 100 years. The locomotive on the mainline can change without notice. Our plan is to operate the Climax locomotive all of July and most of August. Basically the yellow color-coded days on our schedule. The workload is shared with the 65-ton General Electric diesel locomotive built in 1948. Pictured are Mark Nelson, Bobby Henderson, and Andrew Baxter.
